It doesn't matter what industry you're in or what you are selling. Social media marketing allows you to get your message to the right people and filter through who is engaged with custom audience creation.
What Are Custom Audiences
Custom audience creation is highly underused, most business owners I talk to haven't engaged with it or fully understand its value.
Custom audience creation is not targeting! Its filtering out who you have already targeted to the users who engaged with your content. Having the right strategy with this means you can build a list of Facebook users who are engaged and interested in what your message is. Meaning you can then offer your services to a warm marketplace.
A common mistake I see is businesses pitching their services to a cold audience. In other words, creating a post about an offer or their services and boosting it to a targeted audience. The problem here is that audience is cold, has no trust in your brand and no interest in what you have to say yet. Let alone buy from you.
The right strategy to take is create and distribute great content that solves problems and answers questions. This will increase your posts engagement and allow you to retarget the users who actually showed an interest in what you business has to say.

The first piece of content (in this case a video but could be a blog post) is targeted to a broad audience that fits your targeting criteria. (location, age, interests etc) From this post you create a custom audience of the users that showed an interest. (in this case people who viewed 30% or more of the video, but if a blog post track people through facebook pixel) Then we retarget those users with fresh new content that drills deeper into the issue your content is about. Rince and repeat the process and then you have a custom audience that you know is engaged with what you have to say and much more likely to buy from you.
Basically what you're doing here is filtering out all the users you targeted who didn’t show an interest and at the same time warming up the users who did.
Social media marketing when done correctly is highly profitable. But like all forms of marketing you need a strategy that is right for your business.
